CHILDREN ARE THE TREASURES OF OUR COMMUNITIES
Children have the potential to be the light of a society or its darkness. It will all depend on the Education they will receive!
"Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom." Baha'i Writings
How important it is then to create more safe spaces for our children to use their power of expression to discover and use their true talents and potentials! With the values of Love, Peace, and Unity, based on the common shared understanding, that "human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood" (Art. 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights) children will hopefully see themselves as active agents of change and citizens of one shared society.
Until we see our children as such however, the well-being of our shared humanity is unattainable! Families are the first place where this can take place, but schools are great places too that can allow for such conversations to happen. It takes courage for teachers and headmasters to create those spaces, but not impossible!
Few International Frameworks encourage mankind to recognize this universal truth: children are not only vulnerable and in need of protection but they are also unstoppable should they be given the tools to contribute actively towards the transformation of their communities. If the truth comes out from the children's mouth, are their words and voices heard? And even then, are we following-up on some of their recommendations? Are we walking this path towards change together?
Children's Workshops
Based on the Human Prosperity Workshops, this space will be tailored to the ages and needs of the children who will take the workshops. Carefully designed, the Children's Programme will explore what it means to be Human; what prejudices mean and how to challenge them; how we can create more unity and cooperation in our classroom and in the school upon which its success depend.
